School Chaplain
Father Gift Makwasha is the full time Chaplain at St George’s Anglican Grammar School. He is responsible for supporting the social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of students and staff regardless of their faith or beliefs. The School Chaplaincy Service complements our many existing pastoral care programs.
My calling is to inspire young people to realise their full potential. I firmly believe that their high school years should be the very best days of their lives and it is my hope to support all students to seize the many opportunities presented here and to thrive in their time within the St George’s School Community.
— Fr Gift Makwasha
Father Gift, originally from Zimbabwe, is a father of four and was ordained a deacon in Harare in December 1995 becoming a priest a year later. Fr Gift left Harare for the United States where he pursued further study and gained a Doctorate in Theology at Boston University. Fr Gift was previously the School Chaplain at Arundel School, an elite all girls’ school in Zimbabwe, before migrating to Australia five years ago to take up the position of parish priest at Grace Anglican Church in Joondalup. He draws on all these experiences as our School Chaplain since March 2022.
